In 1967, the luxury ready-to-wear line for men, Cerruti 1881, together with the eponymous boutique and company headquarters, all found a home in the Place de la Madeleine, Paris, while the textiles continued to be developed and manufactured in Italy. Fully in control of its own textile workshops, as well as its design and distribution activities, Cerruti was now the figurehead of 20th century fashion, establishing a business model that remains resolutely modern to this day.
Thus Cerruti introduced a new type of masculine informal elegance, showcased in 1967. Unstructured silhouettes, suddenly free of superfluous linings and cumbersome shoulder pads, new textiles developed in the company’s production workshops, every detail helped prove beyond doubt the brand’s ability to capture and redefine the spirit of the times in menswear.
